The Gibraltar Fire Company No.1 was organized at a meeting in the Gibraltar Band Hall August 6,1923.

The company was chartered April 7,1924. The Original Fire House was completed December, 1924 at the cost of $4,825.00. During the past years extensive additions were made to the building, Such as the addition which was built in 1962 at a cost of $22,000. The addition provided space for additional equipment, kitchen facilities, and social quarters. During the same period of time the acquisition of additional ground and building increased the assets to the Fire Company well in excess of $100,000.00.

In 1992 the newest addition was started, the cost of the building would be $141,355.00. The Fire Company got a $100,000.00 mortgage. They had save the remaining $41,355.00. The mortgage, as of July, 2004 is now less than $18,000.00. The assets as of 2004 of the Gibraltar Fire Company are now in excess of $750,000.00.

On March 22, 2002 the IRS granted our application for a 501C3 status. Gibraltar Fire Company is now recognized as a charitable organization by the IRS.

On October 31st,2003, we proudly watched our E~One Rescue Pumper being backed into our engine house. Along with the addition of this truck, we also built a new Brush Jeep and a 86 GMC Brush Truck. In January, 2004, we were notified that FEMA had awarded us $225,000.00 towards the purchase of a 3,500 gal. Tanker/Pumper which was delivered May 2005.

Controlled Burn

At 01:42 company 23, B 24, B 25. were dispatched to Schuylkill Rd and Main St for a report of a brush fire along the river. Deputy 23 and Brush 23 on location reporting a unattended controlled burn. Brush 23 went into service with a hand line. Deputy 23 requested for Engine/Tanker 23 for CAFS. Company 23 cleared the scene at 02:37

 
Barn Fire
Friday, May 3, 2013

On Friday night at 22:42 Company 23, E 24, ET 24, T 24, E 72, T 72, TW 42 and Ladder 1 for RIT for a report of a possible Barn Fire on 577 Golf Course Rd. Officer from Co 72 on location reporting fully involved barn fire. Ladder 1, Chief and Tanker 23 on location tanker 23 went into service with two 1 3/4 hand lines and 2 1/2 hand line and a 5" step gun. Chief 24 requested three additional tankers from Co 6,25,42. Company 23 cleared at 01:41

 
Structure Fire at Sonic

At 20:43 Rescue/Engine 23 was dispatched to Sonic in Exeter Township for a report of a possible structure fire. Rescue/Engine 23 went in route with a full crew. While in route a 25 officer requested us to sand by the hydrant in front of Sonic. While on scene we assisted company 25 with ventilation the structure. Company cleared at 21:21.

 
Accident with injuries
Friday, April 12, 2013

At 16:40 company 23 along with B 24, Utility 24 were dispatched to Green Hills Road and Proudfoot Drive for a vehicle into a wall. Deputy23 and Rescue/Engine 23 was first on location. Rescue/Engine 23 crew assisted EMS with the patient and EMS requested we take door and B post off. Companies applied oil dry. Companies were available at 17:30

 
Kitchen Fire

At 20:35 Company 23 along with E 24, ET 24, T 24, TW 25, R 25, E 7 and R 1 for RIT were dispatched to 3371 Main Street for a reported Kitchen fire. Chief and Engine/Tanker 23 were first on location reporting a working kitchen fire. Crews from 23,25 stretched a 1 3/4 hand line and went into service extinguishing the fire and checking for extension. Company 23 cleared at 22:28

 
Community Yard Sale

At 13:13 company 23 and 24 were disptched to Rt. 568 for a motorcycle accident with unknow injuries.  Rescue 23 went responding and found one motorcycle into the guard rail,  the rider was over the guard rail with a deep laceration.  Companies assisted with the patient removel and EMS.  Company cleard at 13:55

At 18:48 company 23 was dispatched to assist company 24 on a oven fire.  Rescue 23, Tanker 23 and Tanker23-1 went responding from Seyfert Dr. Rescue 23 assisted in ventalation and lighting.  Company 23 was cleared at 19:21


 
Structure fire

At 12:40 companies 23,24,70,25,7,6, were dispatched to 174 Seyferts Dr  for a reported structure fire.  PD got on location reporting a working fire.  Rescue 23 and Tanker 23 went on location shortly after and went into service with 3 -       1 3/4 handline and a 2 1/2 handline.  Companies worked to get the fire under control.    Company 23 cleared at 19:21.


 
   
   
Kurtz mill rd. accident

At 23:03 companies 23,24and72 were dispatched to Kurtz Mill Rd for a motor vehicle accident.  When companies got on location there was a vehicle down a 25ft embankment.  The vehicle was sitting on a down oak tree and in a stream.  Rescue 23 and Utiliy 24 helped with lighting and with getting the vehicle out of the stream and up the embankment.  Companies cleared at 02:01
